Alex Perry launches new designer eyewear range at Marble Bar, Hilton Hotel Sydney

Earlier this evening Australian fashion designer Alex Perry revealed his new designer eyewear range, the Alex Perry 2012 Collection for Specsavers.

It all took place at the super fashionable, Victorian styled event at Sydney’s famous Marble Bar.

The event featured a glamorous runway show inspired by the romance of 19th century Europe, where  Alex Perry models delved into a darker, sultrier fashion inspiration that turned heads.

Amidst the decadent and seductive backdrop of Sydney’s Marble Bar there was feminine touches of the Victorian era for the lucky few to see, from which Alex has drawn inspiration to create the dramatic and powerful eyewear range.

Guests who stayed the night got to see the new Specsavers limited edition striking red frame revealed.

Models and fashion elite present included Alex Perry, Sarah Murdoch, Charlotte Dawson, and Kerri-Anne Kennerley.

Well done to everyone associated with the success of the launch.

Entertainment photography is a subset of photojournalism. Its subject matter is celebrities in the arts, sports and sometimes politics. There are four types of Entertainment photography used by magazines and newspapers. They are:
  • Event photography – Photographers who work celebrity related events, such as film premieres, parties and award shows. Event photographers also cover other events such as music festivals, weddings and private functions.
  • Music photography is another form of entertainment photography. Most music photographers focus on capturing the energy of live music performances and some also get to work backstage or on tour with bands.
  • Celebrity portraiture – Photographers who are assigned portrait sessions with celebrities, shot on location or in a photo studio
  • Paparazzi (or “pap”) - Photographers who shoot candid photos of celebrities with or without their consent, in the hope of capturing an exclusive image. Some photographers make a living following actors and models. When they get a scoop, many magazines will pay high fees to run the images.

Bob King
Bob King’s career as a pre-eminent entertainment photographer commenced in 1964 when he captured images of the Beatles at Sydney Stadium. Over the decades since he has shot virtually every visiting concert act of consequence and a dramatically wide spectrum of Australian entertainers.
Though The Australian Magazine said of him in a 1989 profile, “To the crowds at Sydney rock concerts King is almost as familiar as the exit signs,” he has pursued his unique craft well beyond the Harbour City – as tour photographer for AC/DC, Mick Jagger, Barbra Streisand, Bon Jovi and INXS/Jimmy Barnes. He has focused his lens upon the Who in London, Peter Gabriel in Moscow, Jason Donovan in Jakarta and Bananarama in Hong Kong and along the way has covered a brace of rock festivals, feature film and music video sets, stage musicals, outdoor extravaganzas and more opening nights than he cares to remember. As well, he has shot record covers images for entities as diverse as Joe Cocker, AC/DC, Joan Armatrading, George Benson, Divinyls, Skyhooks, Saints, Radio Birdman and Barry White.
Having long ago mastered the art, so essential at a production on any level, of knowing – as one senior publicist has put it – ”where to be and, more importantly, where not to be”, the extraordinarily professional and adaptable King has earned respect and admiration from artists and industry principals. John Farnham, Australia’s arena concert champion, has declared: “I gravitate towards him because he makes me feel comfortable on stage. It’s like he’s part of the family.”
“These photographs surprise us with their honesty and astound us with their perception” wrote Glenn A. Baker in the Foreword to the book Rocklens. “Bob King’s photographs capture and distil the very essence of the performing art – the anxiety, the adrenalin, the intensity, the pain, the exhilaration.”

Call Me Fitz - FX Event At Swifts, Darling Point, Sydney with Jason Priestley

The grounds of the famous Swifts Mansion were abuzz with fans and media as actor Jason Priestley and a good spread of other actors did the rounds to promote FX's 'Call Me Fitz', in which Priestley stars.

Priestley, better known to Australians and most of the world for his former role in Beverly Hills 90210 has put Brandon Walsh in the history books and has created a cool, dark character in Richard "Fitz" Fitzpatrick.

FX is an upcoming new Fox International entertainment channel which we understand Foxtel are very keen to launch asap.

Promo...

Canadian-American actor Jason Priestley was every teenage girl's poster boy as Beverly Hills, 90210 character Brandon Walsh, one of the show's most popular figures. Priestley's role as Brandon Walsh catapulted him into international fame and since then he has starred in other television shows like Saturday Night Live, Tru Calling, Colditz, Medium and My Name is Earl.

Priestley's brand new television show Call Me Fitz stars him as the main character, a morally bankrupt used-car salesman whose consequence-free life is complicated by the arrival of a do-gooder who claims to be his conscience.

Call Me Fitz is one of many shows to be broadcast on Foxtel's new television channel, FX, which will welcome Priestley to Swifts mansion in Darling Point tonight to celebrate its launch in Australia. The series will have its debut on the channel on Wednesday, March 7 and will be broadcast alongside an array of other popular shows including hit zombie series The Walking Dead.

Priestley will walk the black carpet at this exclusive invitation only launch party at Swifts in Darling Point tonight, alongside Ben Esler, Damon Herriman, Hernan Lopez and Karin Simoncini. Media wishing to cover the black carpet will need to advise Marlene Richardson on the details listed below.

Call Me Fitz synopsis...

A twisted family dramedy about a morally bankrupt salesman who is forced to become business partners with his inner conscience, an off-beat do gooder intent on healing Fitz's mangled psyche, one hilarious disaster at a time.
