It started as a friendly enough Sunday afternoon finals match, as the Abbotsford Wolves took on Five Dock.
The vibe was great today with the Australian - Italian community celebrating their Ferragosto festival.
The whistle blew and The Wolves started with a howl, with Five Dock putting up a spirited fight.
Wolves Ricky Morsello was the first to score in the first half taking his pack to a 1 - Nil lead. The second goal also belonged to the Wolves with Luke Alesso taking the honours, bringing the Wolves to a 2 - Nil scoreline, where it remained for the remainder of the match.
The second half commenced and the Wolves continued to snap away at the opposition, and before you could say "victory to the Wolves", Five Dock had a red card bestowed upon them, due to a Five Dock player saying something out of turn to the referee.
The bottom lime - the better team won and the spirit of the games stayed alive, despite some close calls.
Let's hear it for both teams and for another enjoyable Sunday afternoon of soccer.
Final score: 2 - Nil
