Cat Deeley: So You Think You Can Dance star does Sydney, by Eva Rinaldi

Cat Deeley

Cat Deeley is enjoying a working holiday of Australia, mainly focused on Sydney, and Sony PlayStation and / or Fox Broadcasting's 'So You Think You Can Dance' are picking up most of the tab.

Ms Deeley was spotted earlier today at tourist hub Circular Quay, and then was whisked back to her hotel.

Media blurb from Sony yesterday read: Sony Computer Entertainment Australia (SCE Aust.) and international megastar Cat Deeley – presenter of “So You Think You Can Dance” US – are preparing to celebrate the launch of DanceStar™ Party, a new PlayStation®3 (PS3™) exclusive dance game from the creators of smash hit sensation, photo-shoot, Cat Deeley showed off her PlayStation® moves on DanceStar Party ahead of her first official public appearance in Sydney.

First Fleet Park in Circular Quay was the daylight venue for the excitement. Dancers, gamers and punters battled it out for the title of Australia’s DanceStar. The lucky winner will hoping a plane to America next year to watch a 'So You Think You Can Dance' live filming, in addition to snatching a year’s supply of PlayStation games to satisfy their fix.

"I see so many talented dancers in my line of work, but you don’t have to be a pro to enjoy DanceStar Party," Deeley said. "In typical PlayStation style this game brings you experiences that no one else can – a killer 40 song track list set to the original music video clips, and a whopping 160 choreographed dance routines. With the PlayStation Move motion controller you can even create your own moves, or simply step into the virtual shoes of artists like Basement Jaxx, Usher and Willow Smith. You can easily share your moves from the game on Facebook and Twitter. I can’t wait to see what Australians have to offer tomorrow. Get those legwarmers out people!" she said.

The release of the game plus the celeb push is all part of Sony's attempt to hold off the global downturn in gaming sales.

If today's turn out at Circular Quay was any indication, Sony PlayStation is set to satisfy the high demands of the Australia's gaming youth sector. Let's dance.

Shane Warne Spin King Gets Hot Wheels In Sin City Sydney, By Eva Rinaldi - 19th October 2011

Shane Warne

Shane Warne aka 'The Spin King', continues to race ahead of the pack and reinvent himself, be it on Australian or European soil.

He's endorsed video and audio companies, online poker, and now toys (no, not dolls), cars... Hot Wheels cars from Mattel to be exact.

Today he appeared at a press conference in Surry Hills, Sydney, to tell us all about what he sees in Hot Wheels.

On the surface Warne looks to be a pretty good match. He loves his cars (owning a number of real sports cars in his private collection), is known for his fast women (now just one - lucky Liz), who has him in good shape thanks to the "Liz Effect", as Warnie puts it, and who knows what else is in the pipeline. Young men around the world may do well to note that Mr Warne has settled down now with the one lovely lady now and that commitment to the one lass can be a very good thing.

A couple of whispers overheard at today's presser went something like "Doesn't Mattel also do Barbie and Ken dolls (TM)." For the record there was nothing on Ken or Barbie.

The Hot Wheels 'Spin King' has supposed to be a bit of a secret, but we suspect that was all part of the media and marketing plan. You know, make something a secret, so it gets written and talked about. If that's the case, Mattel and Team Warnie have done their jobs well. Warne is understood to have "collaborated" with Mattel's Hot Wheels for about 6 months, and the financial terms of the deal are not being released, at least at this stage. It must be good, since Warne and his management are used to cranking deals with online poker brands and the like, and those don't come cheap.

'The Spin King' signature range designed by Australian sports stars sure looks hot (if your into toy cars).

This is not the virgin car deal for Mr Warne. Last year Warnie was named Lamborghini's Australian ambassador and gifted a $600,000 Murcielago as a "long-term loan car", and a couple of Lambos' were seen racing around East Sydney earlier today, so perhaps he was driving one of them. You can bet Warnie and Liz's kids are doing to have a ball of a time playing with all the toys they will be gifted by Mattel and Hot Wheels.

Warnie's press statements included something along the lines of "I've always has a passion for cars. I used to play with Hot Wheels cars as a kid, so when they offered me the chance to design my own, I jumped at it". Containing his excitement he also shared "I loved every minute of the design process and working with the team at hot Wheels was great fun. The 'Spin King' is a fusion between all of my favorite fast cars and its been great seeing my vision come to life". To Australian press (and public) he had an equally important message: "When Liz and I settle down in Melbourne please respect our privacy and don't throw rocks at our place at 2am in the morning. I've told Liz Melbourne is beautiful".

It was a hot looking brochure and media kit, but sadly no Hot Wheels car in the pack, but Christmas is coming, so here's hoping.

Thanks for the great photos Warnie. Sydney is the quick and the dead, and we did our best, so we're hoping you like them.

Verdict: Shane Warne and Mattel's Hot Wheels gets the green light. They are to hit stores in March 2012, and we're told they are worth the wait. Catch them if you can.

Medical attention, threats and violence are all par for the course, as one might expect in this brutal version of the fighting world. Even though years have passed, past betrayals and many bad deeds keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father. Extreme Cabaret Egyptian Harlequin Creature Does Hilton Zeta Bar, by Eva Rinaldi - 14th October 2011

Sydney’s Zeta Bar at the famous Hilton Hotel continued to delight with the extreme cabaret, the unique performance that is all the rage in Sydney, Australia.

If a drink and a splash of tease are your thing you have most come to the right place.

My Human Statue Bodyart was delighted to deliver a hot cabaret presentation, this time with a powerful Egyptian Babylonian mythological cabaret creature theme, finished off with black and white squares.

Tonight model Anastasiya Bakss was back again by demand, made up in an Egyptian Babylonian Extreme Cabaret Creature Feature' - ish mummy burlesque like number, with a black and white bodypaint on some of her extremities, and boy did it awake the crowd's 'Egyptian Yummy Mummy' fantasies.

You wouldn't have picked it, but tonight my 'Egyptian Babylonian Creature Feature' was made up in less than an hour. The creation was a massive hit at the Zeta Bar, and word quickly spread around other floors of the Hilton, until Zeta reached capacity crowd level.

A crowd member was overheard "It's my Extreme Cabaret Egyptian creature dream come true".

The extreme cabaret performances have rocked Hilton's Zeta Bar big time, and for this reason Hilton's around Australia, indeed around the world, are getting ready to add 'Extreme Cabaret' to their weekly line up. Last fortnight Hilton Surfers' Paradise got infiltrated by 'Extreme Cabaret', and they are eagerly awaiting another dose.

Snatch the chance to do Sydney in a unique fashion. Come again to Sydney Hilton next Friday night and check out 'extreme cabaret'. The Egyptian Babylonian Cabaret creature' has done her dash, and and being tucked back in her Mummy's tomb, but we heard a little something about Halloween themed cabaret monsters. Join us and see what all the excitement is about. Sweet dreams.

Mel B Of Spice Girls Fame Signs On With Jenny Craig, by Eva Rinaldi - 10th October 2011

Mel B aka Melanie Brown has just been signed up as the new face of Jenny Craig (Australia and New Zealand).

Today at 10.30am Mel B, the top brass at Jenny Craig, and over a dozen news media enjoyed a healthy and delicious breakfast (and a media gig) at the Centennial Parklands function centre.

In the extremely unlikely event that you didn't know, Mel B is an English pop singer-songwriter, actress, author and television presenter. She is best known around the world as Scary Spice, one of the members of the girl group Spice Girls.

It's well know that brands around the world are often interested in signing up suitable celebrities to promote their wares, and on the surface it looks to be a great match with Jenny Craig being a leader in the weight loss industry for over 30 years, and Mel B recently off pregnancy, enjoying motherhood and looking to loose weight.

The international star told our table "I just love the breakfast. Jenny Craig is just right for me being a busy mum".

Mel B said on her eating "I was eating literally eating morning, noon and night, and its didn't matter what time. I was just eating. I was a house. I love my humps and bumps, but when a newspaper described my shape as the 'bootylicious, curvylicious, post-baby body of Melanie, I knew I had to do something. I had to get the eating under control".

Jenny Craig boss Amy Smith released in a media statement: "Mel told us she doesn't like dieting at all. She loves eating healthy foods and she is thrilled with the health snack options and the amount of fruit and vegetables she gets to eat. Jenny Craig's team of nutritionists and doctors have created a program especially for women like Mel who have recently given birth, that takes into consideration the nutrient levels needed for breastfeeding women", says Ms Smith.

Mel B said: "Life gets a bit crazy when you've got four daughters but it's important for us mums to live healthy and to be in good shape. Mums really need to take time for themselves and get to a place where they are happy with their body again. We should not put it off because we deserve more than that. I healthy happy mum equals a healthy happy family."

After breakfast Mel did some on site TV interviews, believed to be for Channel Seven, followed by a relaxed photo shoot in the lush green parklands. Apparently word must have spread around Sydney press circles, as after just minutes after going outside for the shoot a number of uninvited paparazzi showed up and started snapping away. Mel and her media team probably expected it, so its a good thing that the word is well and truly out about her new campaign with Jenny Craig.

Mel B looks great, so just imagine how hot she will look a few months into the Jenny Craig program. She acknowledge that media, the other former Spice Girls and everyone else will be watching her progress closely, and judging by today it appears UK pop queen is on set to achieve her diet goals. Will you achieve your dieting goals as summer sneaks up on you? Needless to say, you now know who to call, which we strongly suspect for the ideal in the first place.

Thanks for the tasty J.C breakfast guys. Highly recommended.

Nickelodeon Australian Kids' Choice Awards: Winners And Chaos, by Eva Rinaldi - 7th October 2011

What a day and what a night. This was Australia's night of nights for kids and teenagers.

Thousands of fans, mainly teenage girls, swamped outside the Sydney Entertainment Centre, some from as early as 5am, waiting for their favorite entertainment industry stars.

By around 2pm, the line ups behind barricades were 30 people deep, and much of the press pack turned animal. Some teenage girls had home-made signs listing their mobile phone numbers, which I thought was not appropriate, and potential dangerous for the young ladies who advertised them. I don't know if I was fortunate or not to be taking photographs alongside the fans on this big outing. The million dollar question at big red carpet events like this is "Who is worse: The media, the fans, the kids or parents?"

Finally, at 6pm, the indoor part of the Nick awards kicked off and the audience went banana.

Ok, you want event results we hear...

Bindi and Bob Irwin have scored top bragging rights at the Australian Nickelodeon Kids' Choice awards, taking home the Hall of Slime Award for 2011 (the slime is green in case you wondered, and CM Punk won't forget it in a hurry).

Bindi and Bob beat Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Guy Sebastian and LA - USA planted Rove McManus, were spurted with green slime as popular Daniel MacPherson announced them as the first ever winners of the award.

"It is such an honour just to be nominated. It's a wonderful award," Bindi told the media.

"We're carrying on in our dad's footsteps. He originally got the Burp Award here at Nickelodeon," she said.

Hosted by iCarly mega stars Jennette McCurdy and Nathan Kress, the evening showcased bowls of maggots, an orange carpet, big and small envelopes and 5 tonnes of slime at the Sydney Entertainment Centre to mark the 16th annual Australian Kids' Choice Awards.

Australia's own teen idol Cody Simpson kicked booty, snatching up all three of his nominated categories - Super Fresh Award, Awesome Aussie and Fave Aussie Musos.

"I might not live in Australia at the moment, but Australia always lives in me," he told the crowd as he accepted his third award for the night, Awesome Aussie. The pop star performed a medley of some of his numbers 'Just For You' and 'On My Mind' for the thousands of screaming fans (80% girls), entering the grand stage with his guitar before ripping it up with dancers, and he even picked a one in a million young lady fan from the sold out crowd to sing to.

A record breaking 1.6 million kids' votes were counted to determine the winners.

Ten's Masterchef judge Matt Preston, who also took out the award for Awesome Oldie, dipped his arm into a big tank of green slime to rip out the word Julia, announcing Julia Gillard as the Slime Minister.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard (look-a-like) accepted the award. The real one wasn't there. The very same one who also didn't watch the ABC tele sexy tribute to her since she "had better things to do".

"Tonight, I'm proud to go green because you voted me Slime Minister," Julia Gillard's look-a-like announced to the audience.

"I'd like to ban budgie smugglers", she added before dancing with Australia's Got Talent winners, Justice Crew and being covered in slime along with "Mr Masterchef" Matt Preston.

Kyle Sandilands beat WWE superstar CM Punk ('The Best In The World'... in case you didn't hear) to win Baddest Baddie, accepting the award electronically from Los Angeles, US of A).

A bush tucker bag of pre-recorded video messages were heard from international superstar Justin Bieber who snatched the Hottest Guy Hottie Award, LMFAO who won Fave Song for Party Rock Anthem, Katy Perry who nicked home Fave International Artist and Victoria Justice who grabbed Hottest Girl Hottie.

Jennette McCurdy proved that she was a fab choice to co-host the night, besting Camp Oranges Luke and Wyatt, Hamish and Andy and Josh Thomas to take out the LOL Award.

Cody Simpson returned to the grand stage to wrap up the night, performing his hit number All Day before being covered in green slime from head to toe.

Insiders tip it was one of the better Nick Australia Kid's Choice Awards from a paid audience perspective, but also one of the most chaotic in history from a red carpet planted fan perspective.

What a crazy day. We hope no one got hurt - big ego's or otherwise. Ok, get nicked.

Replays of the event can be found on Foxtel's Nickelodeon channel this Saturday (Noon) and Sunday at 10.30pm.
